GEAR TOOTH VERNIER CALIPERS

The Starrett No.456 gear tooth vernier caliper is designed to measure in thousandths of an inch the thickness of gear teeth at the pitch line or the chordal thickness of the teeth and the distance from the top of a tooth to the chord. For the same purpose, it can also be used for measuring
hobs, from and thread tools, etc.
The thickness of a tooth at pitch line and the addendum are measured by an adjustable jaw and adjustable tongue, each of which are adjusted independently by adjusting screws on the graduated bars.
In using this tool, proper allowance may be made for any variation or error in the size of the gear blank when setting the vertical slide to obtain correct distance from top of the tooth to pitch line.
Starrett Gear Tooth Vernier Calipers are available in the sizes listed below to measure 20 to 2 diametral pitch or 10 to 1 diametral pitch (also Metric sizes). Measuring surfaces of jaws can also be furnished with Tungsten Carbide measuring surfaces when required.(Price in application.)
